I did a poll a couple of weeks back asking those who reads my blog to choose whether i should craft, cook or bake last weekend. 50% of you voted for me to bake (less than 5 votes only... sadly). so to those who voted, this one's for you (you know who you are!) and thanks so much for voting!
I didnt want to bake those tiny little cupcakes as featured in most blogs (but one day i'm sure i will!), last weekend, i wanted to do something different. this is the 'real' thing. a 'real' cupcake in a cup! how's that!?
I envy those who can bake well as i honestly cant. even more those who can decorate their cakes and cupcakes with lovely petals, flowers, bright colours icing sugar and fondont. but honestly, who eats those sugar anyway? ;) but hey, looks matters, i know... but its what's inside that counts right? i did this mainly coz i didnt have to decorate them! perhaps i should get some lessons from those experts. but at least i made an effort to bake them in my cup and present them on a saucer!
But anyway.. the berry season's almost over. we've been eating them quite often as we get ours almost every week. for this, you can use your normal, basic recipe for any cupcakes (perhaps i should try using other recipes as this one didnt turn out too good). before scooping them to your cup, make sure the cup is preheated in the oven for at least half an hour, then add a couple tbsp of strawberry conserve. make sure they are of a good made as you'd want your treassure to be worth digging for! top them off with loads of strawberries, or whichever berries you choose and dust with icing sugar.
Aidan's thinking if he should dig in to this first or his lunch! (un)fortunately his mama made the decision for him and served him couscous with vegetables instead!

jom, let's ask Muna to conduct baking cupcakes classes.. she is very good in that, esp the icing part..
hey zaza, u know who is good in baking cupcakes and deco? those fantastic looking icing deco, and u name it.. we should ask her to conduct classes for us.. and who is that? of coz our dear luving friend MUNA... she is reallly good... she did it for my son's cukur jambul ...
I just woke up, put the kettle on and decided to see what you've been up to while waiting for the air to boil. Terkejut saya when I saw your CUP-cake! I thought my laptop kena virus and changed your blog link to Food Network Inc. Haha! What a creative idea, well-done Zaza. Did you have to use a special cup to bake or any cup will do? Also like your photography with Aidan in the soft background. :)
anzed: no worries, we've found our bawal alredy. not exactly bawal but something like a bawal. heel lekker!
yaya: it's a CUPcake for those who doesnt know how to do icing!
ajzie: thank you! i agree, it looks kindda cute!
rini: hey, i noticed you wrote "cantek" and not cantik. reminds me of my mum :) (no, no not that you're old or anything!) hehe. thank you rini, YOUR photos on flickr are bloody good, so please la dont be modest and malu, share the link!!
nina: really? are we talking about the same muna? if you are, lets learn from her! i am hopeless in icing and all that cake decoration. i really admire and envy those who does it well. (p.s: nina, you la nina la cocina kan?)
rita: my dear, dont la puji like that, i kembang susah nak kuncup nanti! i suppose you can use any cup that's heat resistant. dont use glass sudah. make sure you preheat them first. get a small or medium size of cup, so that it'll cook inside as well. and the saucer pon makes it cool kan? its actually for people like me who doesnt know how to decorate a cupcake. apprently its a craze nowdays.. decorated cupcakes.
zaza, at last you baked something & came out with something different! hmmm, what's inside of the cup?? ada jem berry ke or just fresh berries on the top of the cake??
k.linad can bake but malas & tak reti nak decorate with those sugars...so normally i wld prefer to have my cake bogel...ehhehe....
you are so creative. they look so cute. both aidan and the cupcake
-MiA-
k.linad: there's jam in the cup, you can put fresh berries too i suppose. but i'd rather let the jam be the 'treassure'. it'll be something like scones when eating them!
mia: thank you my dear!
